An enormous part of the community longed for cl_righthand 0 (to play with your weapon model on the left side of your screen, “left”). This is a big quality-of-life command that even helps you in certain scenarios. Learn all about this helpful CS2 viewmodel setting in our short guide..
Learn all about the left-hand command and how to switch the view model Left/Right Hand in CS2. Doing that has been simplified, and now you can find it in the normal settings, instead of behind a hidden command like it was in GO.
Let us get right into our guide!
How to change the keybind for Left Hand in CS2?
“Settings menu” under “Game” → “Item”.
There, you can set your preferred Hand side, and it links you to the keybind for switching hands in Counter-Strike 2. In the picture, you can see the keybind setting for “Switch Viewmodel Left/Right Hand”. We bound it to the “C”-key.
Right Hand
Left Hand
You have to press the shoot button (Mouse 1, we hope) again after you pull it out from the “other hand”. We advise not using the new keybind for every corner, as you might be caught with your pants down and unable to fire at your enemies. It works now with switching your hands, BUT it works just as switching your weapon, keep that in mind when peeking corners.
How to use the switch viewmodel hands command the best?
This can come with disadvantages; do not forget that you can't shoot immediately after switching hands! This is very important to note.
Here is an example of how you can use your left-hand command. The scenarios might not always happen, but if they happen, they are quite frustrating.
What command do I use to switch my hands in CS2?
1 means “Yes” while a 0 means “No”, here are the two commands for that:
- Command for the Right Hand: cl_righthand 1
- Command for the Left Hand: cl_righthand 0
Should I play left or right hand?
We urge you to try out to play with the "other hand", as it can be refreshing to you. And if you do not like it, you can easily change it back in the CS2 in-game settings.

We hope you learned all about the Switch Viewmodel Left/Right Hand command and how to best utilise it in your games of Counter-Strike!
