A new CS2 market cap all-time high at USD 5.5 Billion
Counter-Strike skins have always been at the heart of the game’s economy, but what we’re witnessing right now is nothing short of historic. Normally, the value of skins remains relatively stable over the short run and sees a linear increase over time, but in recent months, we’ve seen some items skyrocket, and whole categories increasing like never before. Those factors have driven the total market cap to its highest point ever: over USD 5.5 billion.
CS2 Market Cap All-Time High at USD 5.5 Billion
EsportFire 300 Index All-Time High
For all of you who are not familiar with our EsportFire300 index - it's a collection of 300 liquid items representing the overall market movements and growth of the CS2 market. Find more indexes to analyse all different parts of the market under: EsportFire/Indexes.
The Evil Geniuses (Holo) | Stockholm 2021 Phenomenon
To make it even crazier, the sticker peaked even higher on September 12th, hitting over USD 400.
While such item-pumps/manipulations, however you want to call them, contribute to increasing the market cap and are therefore mentioned in this article, they are not contributing to the market in a great way. Some people see immense profit, but most people lose their money investing in items like that - as we can see, the prices of those stickers dropped within days, close to a normal price point.
We strongly encourage you to be very careful with your money if you see items being pushed up like that. The CS market can be an amazing way to invest and see some good returns, but be patient and long-term oriented, not greedy and fomo driven.
Agent Skins
Other agents, including Bloody Darryl The Strapped | The Professionals, Aspirant | Gendarmerie Nationale, and Chef d'Escadron Rouchard | Gendarmerie Nationale, have all experienced dramatic price jumps. This collective growth has nearly doubled the Agents Index graph in just two months.
Some Play Skins Have Also Increased
There are enough skins to choose from, which experience normal growth over time and have not been manipulated. In general, nevertheless both our "High-Tier Loadout Index", but also our "Playskin Index" have seen quite the growth over the last month - indicating a general increase in prices.
Final Thoughts
Be careful with everything that looks sus, don't get driven by fomo, and trust in your gut feelings and market fundamentals, not hype and insane profits.
