G2 vs. FURIA Preliminary report, statistics and a forecast - Esport CS:GO

On the second day of the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, two absolute top teams and title candidates meet one another. The two teams have recently competed in the semi-finals of the DreamHack Masters. On three maps FURIA clearly had the lead.

Table of Content

In the BLAST Fall Finals a total of eight teams compete against each other for a total prize money of around 400,000 USD.

Date and provider

The duel between G2 and FURIA takes place on 09.12.2020 at 1.30 p.m. BLAST itself will take care of an original English stream, while 99 Damage will host a German cast.

G2 - Latest performance & results

G2 didn't make it to the playoffs at the DreamHack and finally had to admit defeat against FURIA on the way to the quarter finals. Also in the lower-bracket against Astralis G2 had no chance and lost clearly with 0:2.

After his new signing, NiKo was the most convincing individual at G2. The Bosnian, who is able to play together with his cousin huNter- since his transfer from FaZe, does not have to take over the role of the IGL in his new team and can fully concentrate on his roles and his great mechanical skills.

In total G2 won only two of their last five games. All in all, the team has improved considerably after their transition to an international lineup, but still needs to gain some consistency.

FURIA - Latest performance & results

FURIA had some great success in the online period in North America and was the dominant team for a long time. With four wins out of the last five games, FURIA only lost out to Astralis in the DreamHack semi-final.

The way IGL gla1ve prepared his team against FURIA was incredible. The team around arT was practically chanceless in this encounter and lost in a highly anticipated duel with 7:16 and 6:16 on Overpass and Nuke. An especially good map for FURIA in the last months was Inferno. The Brazilians seemed almost invincible on this map for a long time. In the duel with Astralis we unfortunately did not see this map due to a retrospectively bad map veto for FURIA.

For G2 Inferno is a rather weak map. If the map veto doesn't prevent it and Inferno comes into play between the duel G2 vs. FURIA a quota advantage on the part of the Brazilians is clearly understandable.

G2 vs. FURIA - Map-Veto prediction

While FURIA bans Dust2 by default and in every match-up, G2 has no real first ban. Coach maLeK tries to integrate the complete map pool in his team, but this has not yet been successful with Overpass. In view of the bad chances of winning the duel with FURIA it would be worth considering to decide to ban Inferno.

Between G2 and FURIA is the tip regarding the maps on Mirage and Nuke. Furthermore a pick from FURIA on Train would be also possible.

G2 vs. FURIA - Prediction

All in all, it is difficult to give G2 a good chance of winning their opening game in view of the map veto and the last encounter.

With a stake of 4 units we bet between G2 and FURIA on a 2-1 success for the favored Brazilians.

Winner bet: FURIA
EsportFire Tip: 2:1 FURIA
