Winner and tournament MVP

The group winners were NAVI, Complexity and BIG. FaZe Clan, Evil Geniuses and NiP also qualified. Since this was only a qualifying tournament, there was no MVP for this event.

Group A

In Group A of the BLAST Spring Groups, Astralis, NiP, OG and BIG competed. The group was practically set and the Danish top team was the big favorite to win the first place. With a defeat against NiP on the first match day and a 0:2 against the BIG Clan on the third match day, Astralis was surprisingly eliminated from the tournament. After NiP made it to the final, the Swedes were defeated by BIG in the final match. OG had no chance in group A.

Group B

Group B also featured two clear favorites, Vitality and G2, while Complexity and Evil Geniuses were the underdogs. Complexity, who played their first tournament since the return of poizon, surprised completely and won each of their duels with 2:0. The second surprise was Evil Geniuses in the Consolidation Final against G2. Thus, the two favorites to advance were eliminated from the event with 0:2 and 1:2 in games.

Group C

While in group C MIBR was eliminated from the tournament as a clear underdog with a score of 0:2, NAVI came out on top of the group. The second place was surprisingly secured by FaZe Clan in a duel with Liquid.

Surprises and disappointments

The entire group stage was full of surprises and disappointments. With Astralis, Vitality, G2 and Liquid, four absolute top teams have to try to secure one of the last two places via the Spring Showdown. The big surprises were definitely the 6:0 in maps by Complexity, the promotion of FaZe Clan, who still entered the tournament with stand-in olofmeister, and the 2:0 victories by NiP against Astralis and BIG.
