Flipsid3 Tactics may not be as popular as some of the other teams that participated in the Katowice 2015 tournament, but they did showcase that they could reach this Major through the hard work they put in. Katowice 2015 was their second Major, following DreamHack 2014, where they reached the Challenger stage via the LAN qualifier.
Katowice 2015 Flipsid3 Tactics – General Team Information
Flipsid3 Tactics, the USA organization represented by CIS players, secured themselves a spot in Group A. Andrij "B1ad3" Ghorodensjkyj, Vlаdуslаv "bondik" Nеchуроrchuk, Georgiy "WorldEdit" Yaskin, Jeghor "markeloff" Markelov, and Vadim "DavCost" Vasilyev faced a tough group with Fnatic, Natus Vincere, and Vox Eminor.
The opening match was scheduled against Natus Vincere, a fairly familiar opponent as both teams are from the same CS region. They had many previous encounters, leading many to expect a very strategic game. However, Natus Vincere had other plans, and after only 25 minutes of play on Mirage, they defeated Flipsid3 Tactics 16-2.
This game left a big mark on their performance in the second match. Here, they faced Vox Eminor, who had lost their opening game against Fnatic. Cache was left as the deciding map, determining which team would have a final chance to secure a playoff spot and which team would go home. Vox Eminor started exceptionally strong, establishing a commanding 14-1 lead in the first half. Unfortunately, Flipsid3 Tactics couldn't mount a comeback and lost 16-2 once again. This was by far the worst performance of any team in the entire tournament, only winning four rounds across two maps.
After finishing fourth in Group A, they also ended up in the 13th to 16th position on the overall leaderboard for the Katowice 2015 Major, earning USD 2,000 from the prize pool.
