Winner and tournament MVP

The winner was Evil Geniuses. Not quite flawless but with a sovereign 2:0 in the final match against MIBR they still convinced. 160,000 USD prize money and a place at the BLAST Global Finals 2020 are the prizes for EG.

Opening round

In the opening round, the two Brazilian and American teams competed against each other. Surprisingly MIBR prevailed against FURIA and decided this first match even with 2:0 for themselves. In the duel between Liquid and Evil Geniuses, EG won 2:1 and secured alongside MIBR the second halffinal place.

Playoffs

While FURIA and Liquid had to play against each other in the lower-bracket and the Brazilians had the better end for themselves, MIBR decided the upper-final in their favor. The Consolidation final between Evil Geniuses and FURIA was won by EG with 2:1 on Inferno and Train and secured the second final ticket.

Überraschungen und Enttäuschungen

The big surprise was MIBR, who started the tournament as clear underdogs and managed to advance to the final. Disappointing was the performance of Liquid, who were out of the tournament with 0:2. In the end, the two favorites in terms of the HLTV ranking had no chance and the underdogs of the tournament claimed the final places for themselves.

Performance der einzelnen Teams

  • FURIA: Solid, but not quite up to expectations
  • Liquid: Disappointing, a tournament to forget
  • Evil Geniuses: Title win with short slip, otherwise promising and sovereign
  • MIBR: Big surprise, best performance in a long time
