Deadlocks Game Modes in a brief overview:

When you launch your game and click onto play there is the option to choose between four Deadlock game modes:
  • “Play Deadlock",
  • "Sandbox Mode" &
  • "Online or Public Bot Match".

Regular Game Mode:

Queuing up in “Play Deadlock” will throw you into the normal games with the regular online 6v6 experience against other real opponents. When entering the Play Mode you will need to choose three characters whom you prefer to play and then start the queue solo or with your friends.

Let's say these three are your selected preferred Heroes, then with right clicking one time onto Ivy for example it turns yellow and that means it's ranked as 2nd most preferred and by double clicking it turns purple and becomes the most preferred. In that case it would be Vindicta. Make sure to set your priorities otherwise you might be mad not getting the Hero you prefer.

Sandbox Mode:

The Sandbox Mode is made for you to try out different characters and strategies as well as movements and abilities. The Sandbox map resembles a small battlefield that should simulate the real experience of playing Deadlock. You have guardians, minions, can level your abilities and try new builds and also play around with different settings.

On the right hand side you have the hero tools with whom you can further change and adjust the game in a way you enjoy it most. You can spawn friendly Heros, rule out any incoming damage, max out your health or level and so on.

We highly recommend you try it out to figure out what Hero suits you and your gamestyle best.

Playing Public and Private Bot Matches:

After trying out characters in the sandbox you can hop into bot matches before queuing real opponents. These bot matches can help you advance your skills with a certain Hero before facing up against strong opponents.

It is also of great use to try out, ways to farm Souls and Ability points quicker and deepen your knowledge of Deadlock, because there ain't pressure from other competitive players.

Deadlock: Finding and Watching your Match Replays

Same as in CS2 there is a replay mode that can be used to rewatch your games and highlights within these.

Click your profile in the top right corner to open your match history. After that you select the game you want to rewatch and press download. A game might not download in the first place, but with downloading a different one first it sometimes fixes that bug.

Deadlock View your Match Demo

As soon as the game is downloaded you can open it and jump right into the action of the past, with a very nice overview and fast loading application. As seen in the screenshot the controls are very nice and fine to use. With Space you move to the next player and with Alt + Space you go back to the previous and with C and J you can turn around and move the camera to your liking.

On the bottom is a time graph with certain timestamps depending on what you picked in the box shown above the time graph. In that example it shows all Kills & Deaths by that player but can also be changed to their abilities like their Power Slash. By rewatching your ability you learn how to time and properly use them.

We find that Valve did an excellent job with its replay mode, as it is very useful to beginners as well as intermediate or expert players.
