After the group stage ended earlier this week without really big surprises, four of the six remaining teams battled it out yesterday (Friday) for a place in the semifinals. While Gambit and Heroic came through the group stage undefeated and thus qualified directly for the semifinals, G2 won yesterday in the duel with Astralis and NAVI in the duel with FURIA.
Game 1: Gambit vs. G2
The match between Gambit and G2 is a re-match of the group stage, in which G2 was defeated 1-2 by the Russian top team. About a week ago, the team around IGL nexa lost relatively clearly on the third and decisive map Dust2. Gambit is currently probably the best team in the world and is also on the first place of the EsportFire World Ranking. While G2 is getting in better and better shape, the Russian top team has been convincing with consistency for weeks. The spectators can expect an exciting semi-final duel, in which Gambit is the clear favorite against G2 in view of the odds.
Game 2: Heroic vs. NAVI
In the second semifinal, two great teams, Heroic and NAVI, will meet. Both lineups had to find back to their old strength in the new year with one and two new players in the roster. The Danish top team in particular did a great job. Heroic lost only one game since the new signings of sjuush and refrezh, who have been with the team for over two months now. At NAVI, the whole squad is playing better and better lately. The second semifinal at DreamHack Masters Spring will be another great clash and exciting for the spectators.
