Further lower-bracket and decider games
While the upper-bracket semi-finals were already played a few days ago and mousesports and G2 won against Astralis and NiP, the lower-bracket semi-finals and two placement matches will take place today. In yesterday's duels Heroic, FunPlus Phoenix, BIG and Sprout could prevail.
Game 1: Astralis vs. Heroic
In the first game of today the two Danish top teams meet in the semifinals of the lower-bracket. While Astralis was defeated by mousesports only in the third game of Flashpoint, Heroic lost to G2 already after two days of play and thus started their lower-bracket run. After a clear win against Complexity, the team finally won yesterday in a thrilling encounter with 2:0 against Vitality, who continue to not really find their form and were eliminated from the tournament. Astralis, despite the recent departure of dev1ce, impressed with wins over OG and DBL PONEY. However, one of the two teams will have to bow out of the fight for the title today. Between Astralis and Heroic, the odds clearly assign Heroic as the favorite.
Game 2: Complexity vs. Anonymo
In the 9th-12th place bracket Complexity and Anonymo play against each other today. Complexity lost their duel against FunPlus Phoenix yesterday very disappointingly and thus six of their last seven matches. Anonymo was one of the big underdogs in the tournament, but did quite well in the end. In yesterday's match against Sprout, the team lost in the overtime of the third map Vertigo. Between Complexity and Anonymo, the odds favor the team around blameF fairly heavily, which is almost a little surprising given the lineup's recent performances.
Game 3: NiP vs. BIG
The second highlight of the day. In the lower-bracket semifinals, it's a question of elimination between the two top teams. The loser has to quit the title fight. While NiP started the tournament with wins against FunPlus Phoenix and Anonymo, BIG had to admit defeat against mousesports already on the first day. NiP lost narrowly against G2 in the game for the entry into the upper final, but showed all in all great performances with new signing dev1ce. BIG had a hard time in the last weeks and only won narrowly against Sprout. Yesterday's match against DBL PONEY was won by the Germans with 2:1. Between NiP and BIG the odds are very even and the bookmakers can't identify a real favorite.
Game 4: FunPlus Phoenix vs. Sprout
In the second placement match of today, yesterday's winners FunPlus Phoenix and Sprout will meet. While the winner of the duel will secure the ninth place, the loser will have to fight again in a consolidation final for the tenth place. Both teams showed solid performances at Flashpoint 3 and were ultimately eliminated from the event rather unfortunately. In the duel FPX vs. Sprout, the odds clearly favor the European mixed team around the new IGL emi.
