Further quarterfinals
With Anonymo's win yesterday, HYENAS became the fourth team eliminated from the first RMR event. The other three teams are OG, FaZe and fnatic. In the first quarterfinal matches yesterday, Astralis already prevailed. The second match between BIG and mousesports was not yet played when this article was written. Today the next semi-final duel will be between Heroic and G2 and between NiP and FPX. On Friday the next lower-bracket matches will take place.
Game 1: Heroic vs. G2
The top duel in the quarter-finals. In the game Heroic vs. G2, the odds clearly favor the Danish top team, which is currently in second place of the EsportFire World Ranking, while the European mixed team is in fourth place. Excitement is therefore inevitable. While Heroic has only lost two duels since the new signings of refrezh and sjuush, G2 has found its way back to success after some mixed performances. The team around IGL nexa won four of their last five matches, among others against Astralis, Virtus.Pro and in the first round of Flashpoint against FaZe. Heroic will ban Dust2, while G2 will choose to ban Overpass by default. All in all, the odds odds advantages on Heroic's part are justified. The Danes have consistently shown strong performances in the new year.
Game 2: FunPlus Phoenix vs. NiP
In the evening match of today FunPlus Phoenix and NiP meet. While the mixed team around the new IGL emi was able to win confidently against HYENAS on the first match day, NiP had a tough draw the last few days and had to deal with many external influences, that also affected the team's performance against Anonymo. Accordingly, between FunPlus Phoenix and NiP the odds are also relatively even. It remains to be seen how the Swedish team will perform in the match with FPX. The team makes their debut with dev1ce, who was signed just a few weeks ago, after their successful performance at the ESL Pro League.
