The American Legend

Biography

NOTE: The player section is a bit outdated! Information could have changed! We will try to update the articles as soon as possible, thanks for understanding!

Tarik "tarik" Celik was born on 18.02.1996 in Brooklyn, New York and has Turkish roots. He started participating in numerous online tournaments at a young age and hosted Counter-Strike Deathmatch servers called FragShack in high school, which were very popular.

Shortly afterwards, Tarik began streaming on the Twitch platform under the channel name "NoShirtTV" and became increasingly well-known in the Counter-Strike scene. Tarik remained true to his role as a pioneer and today hosts his own Website, including his own merch shop and numerous servers.

Tarik, like most pros, is very active on Twitter, while he tends to neglect his Instagram and Facebook profiles. The 24-year-old still uses his Twitch channel with around 800,000 followers very actively and streams regularly.

Tarik reveals relatively little about his private life on his social media. What is particularly remarkable about the American star player is his Youtube account, on which he uploads several videos per week and has around 30,000 active viewers.

While Tarik has played the role of IGL for parts of his career, he is currently able to concentrate fully on his role of "Entry-Fragging" and plays Rifle for Evil Geniuses.

tarik - Career

Tarik started his career at NetcodeGuides.com, followed by mouseSpaz, where he made his first big breakthrough as a professional player. The qualification for the MLG 2015 was a great success in the young career of the American.

This team formed the basis for CLG and switched to Counter Logic Gaming in 2015. The American celebrated his first major successes with OpTic Gaming. Together with other well-known names such as RUSH, NAF and stanislaw, Tarik secured his first really big tournament win at ELEAGUE Season 2 in the final with Astralis, where the team won 400,000 USD in prize money.

Over the next two years, Tarik had shorter stints with Cloud9, mibr and NRG Esports before moving to Evil Geniuses on Sept. 26, 2019. Especially at mibr, the lineup consisting of FalleN, fer, coldzera, Stewie2K and tarik was very promising. In just five months, the team won two S-Tier tournaments and finished third at the FACEIT Major: London 2018.

The NRG lineup was an up-coming team with great qualities in 2019 and signed tarik in February as the new fifth player and replacement for FugLy. EG bought out the team a short time later and got back into Counter-Strike after their exit in 2012.

tarik - Achievements

Tarik's career started in 2014, which was marked by first B- and C-tier successes. At the beginning of 2015, the young American competed in his first major tournament and finished the Katowice 2015 together with CLG in 9th-12th place. However, Tarik had to wait a bit longer for his first S-Tier success. Together with OpTic Gaming, he won the ELEAGUE Season 2 in December 2016.

So far in his career, Tarik has competed in nine major tournaments and somewhat surprisingly won the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 together with Cloud9. Alongside RUSH, autimatic, Stewie2K and Skadoodle, he immortalised himself in the history books and became a national hero. To date (Dec 2020), Cloud9's win represents the last Major winner not named Astralis.

Tarik's total prize money is estimated at around USD 800,000. His biggest achievements in terms of winnings were the Major Triumph, the victory at ELEAGUE Season 2 and the win at StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8. In addition to his numerous tournament wins, Tarik won the MVP Award in Boston, which is by far the biggest individual success for the Rifler. Furthermore, Tarik is one of the founding members of the CSPPA.
